Architecture in Clay

Throughout our history, ceramic elements have been used as an inspiration or vehicle to generate a critical structural element.  Other architectural elements have also played an inspirational role for surface embellishment. Architecture in clay is about interpretation of an architectural element or form

Criteria for Architecture in Clay:
Architectural elements that are inspired by past, present and future events. Size limitation not to exceed 18”x18”.

About the Juror, Kevin A. Myers
Kevin A. Myers, owner of The Myers Gallery received his MFA form Otis College of Art and Design and he is currently a professor at Orange Coast College.

Zoomorphism
Show dates: September 11 – October 9, 2010

Zoomorphism has been a recurrent and ubiquitous theme in ceramic art since the beginning of human creative expression - from Neolithic Chinese figures to pre-Columbian vessels, Egyptian deities, and contemporary ceramics.  

Criteria for Zoomorphism:
The only criteria for submitted work is that references, or is inspired by, animals..

About the Juror, Max Rain
Max Rain received his BFA in spatial art from San Jose State University, and is completing his MFA at UCLA.  He has been working primarily with ceramics for over a decade, but has a long background in painting and illustration.  His work is mainly representational, and takes the form of three-dimensional sculpture, or painted and incised imagery.  He focuses on the fauna that have adapted to the urban environment, and the similarities between city-dwelling animals and the humans that share and shape their habitat.

Muddy's Wood Fire Classic (2nd Annual)
Show dates: November 4 - December 21, 2010

Criteria for Muddy's Wood Fire Classic:
Welcome to the 2nd Annual, Muddy’s Wood Fire Classic.  All work submitted must be primarily fired with wood.

About the T Robert & Jon Pacini
T Robert and Jon Pacini.  T and Jon are considered masters of the wood fire process and have both conducted workshops throughout the United States. It is not just the dynamic surface design left on the pot but the communal nature of wood firing that intrigues both Jon and T.
